About

My background, what I’m doing now and how to reach me

My name is André Silva and I work professionaly with web app development, being primarily a backend developer. I’ve working with several technologies ranging from PHP to Java. I also have interest in Linux and open-source software in general (free/gratis distribution, user-centric development, collaboration, unrestricted usage of technology). I also like to explore some devops/sysadmin topics and explore new tools to manage servers. My curious side also pushes me to try new trendy technologies, for example, blockchain. Besides computers, I’m also starting to explore photography and content creation.

/now

The /now page movement started by Derek Sivers back in 2015 is getting more popular. It is a good way to quickly let someone know about what I’m working on. I don’t feel my updates deserve a dedicated /now page by this time, so I’ll update my status here (expect 1-2 updates per year).

As of 16 February 2026 I am:

  • Exploring more of Proxmox, by better structuring my Homelab, exploring more LXC and improving automation on (re)creation of services for my local network (with Ansible or possibly Pulumi)
  • Reinforcing my knowledge on web frontend technologies, such Angular and Vue
  • Researching about creating self-sufficient and lucrative websites/applications
  • Attempting to read more books
  • Learning more about electronics and how to repair stuff at home
  • Improving my skills with photography to build a gallery and expose my work
